No one really felt like doing the Story Wars today, so we opted to move that to Monday and look at some essay/non-fiction terms and devices and then play a game to go over the terms again.

No class due to NIC visit.

2. Reading the article “When stress rises, empathy suffers.” On their
own lined paper they have a before reading, a during reading and an after
reading activity to do related to the text. Provide them with the title and before reading predict a
question that the article might answer. During reading they are to label
problems that the article presented "P" and solutions presented with
an "S". They can do this directly on the article. When the article is
read, they are to write out three quotes
that they have selected because they related to "Rock Bottom" and/or
"The Larder.” They must explain how the quote relates to the other two
texts.
3. Time to prepare their
arguments for the Story War tomorrow about “The Larder.”
Tuesday- Realistic fiction novel - silent reading
- Identify the evidence of quality in your paragraph about "Rock Bottom." Please type or hand write very neatly. DOUBLE-SPACE your work whether it is hand written or typed.
