a. Employees use computers to write letters, keep records, calculate
expenses, and do payroll.
b. Computers are useful, but frustrating, tools.
c. Unfortunately, computers cannot think the way humans do, and humans
cannot think the way computers do.
d. Companies complain that computers are expensive to purchase and to
maintain, but they also note that computers are necessary for the modern
office.
e. In fact, both employees and employers seem to love and hate computers
with equal passion.
f. Despite this ambivalence, computers are used in the offices of travel
agencies, manufacturing plants, department stores, and government
agencies.
g. Create or find (on-line) 3 examples of different types of parallel structure. Write down your 3 examples.
3. Work on your speech analysis. The rubric is in the links section of this blog. I have copied the criteria for a 6/6 below. Your analysis/annotation of the speech is due at the end of tomorrow's class. You will have some class time to work on it.

It shows a deep and complete understanding of the speech and the annotation task. The annotation makes very effective points and shows a high level of insight/analysis. The annotation shows a superior understanding of speech features such as organizational structure, rhetorical devices, figurative language. Notes are clear, precise and easy to follow. The annotation is virtually error-free.
